Hydrogen Gas Detection Systems

It is very important that hydrogen is detected in all areas where it is used, used and generated as a result of processes, generating alarms and evacuating the detected gas.

RISKS IN BATTERY CHARGERS

The greatest danger in electric vehicles, forklifts, golf car charging stations and battery rooms is hydrogen (H) gas, which is explosive during charging.

The batteries used in most of the battery vehicles are Traction batteries. Traction batteries are a type of battery used in moving vehicles. It differs in new generation electric vehicles. Battery types vary depending on vehicle types and intended use.

Electric business vehicles, such as pallet trucks, golf trucks, forklifts, are used in many businesses. In addition to these vehicles, electric charging stations are established in parking lots for new generation cars. These tools are increasingly preferred by many businesses due to environmental awareness, economic operating costs, etc.

There are a number of risks in charging areas and rooms created for electric vehicles. With the increase in ISG applications, these risks have been identified and solutions are taken.

1. BATTERY CHARGING AREA VENTILATION SYSTEM
The areas where the batteries will be charged are required to be in closed areas with constant temperature values of 25-30C and well ventilated. Open areas where weather factors such as high temperature differences and strong winds are in question increase the risk of explosion of batteries and at the same time have a negative effect on battery life.

2.PREVENTION OF UNCONTROLLED ACCESS

Explosion can occur while charging the batteries. Especially if the charging time and amount are exceeded, if the batteries are neglected, fire, injury and death may occur due to explosion. For this reason, it should be ensured that the charging areas are cleared of human and freight traffic.

3. BATTERY CHARGING ROOM - ZONE SHOULD BE CREATED

Since the battery charging areas are areas with explosion and chemical burn hazards, these areas should be separated clearly and visibly.

4. WARNING SIGNS MUST BE USED.

Since hydrogen gas is released during charging, the risk of explosion will arise with the effect of heat or fire, so it should not be approached with open flames and sparks in these areas.

5. HYDROGEN DETECTION

Necessary sensors must be positioned to detect and generate an alarm after the explosive gas hydrogen emerging in an uncontrolled manner during the charging process.

6. VENTILATION

A ventilation system should be established to ventilate the environment routinely and to allow it to move away from the environment quickly in possible hydrogen increases.

7. USE OF BATTERY CHARGING ROOM

The charging room usage instructions and instructions clearly stating possible risks and protective preventive equipment must be positioned in an easily accessible manner.

Platinum technology offers smart gas detection and alarm system solutions that detect explosive Hydrogen (H) gas during battery charging, as well as all other risky gases, and warn those in the environment by alarm and activate the ventilation system.

Hydrogen Detection in Manufacturing Areas

RISKS IN MARGARINE MANUFACTURING FACILITIES

In the manufacturing processes in margarine production facilities. hydrogen is forced into heated vegetable oil with the help of a nickel catalyst. Forcing hydrogen into oil changes the chemical structure so the oil becomes more solid. The oils used in margarine and shortening were traditionally only partially hydrogenated, as the complete hydrogenation of the oils made the margarine too stiff and difficult to spread to hold or slightly shorten it. However, when the oils are only partially hydrogenated, the double bonds form trans configurations that are linked to increased heart disease risk. This fully hydrogenated trance does not have this configuration but is too strong to be used for cooking. This problem can be solved by mixing fully hydrogenated solid with oils so that they become softer so that they can be used like regular margarine or shortening.

Saturated fat - To obtain semi-saturated fatty acids Hydrogen gas is used in these processes, the gas level of the environment should be kept under control. Otherwise, sudden explosions may occur.

Since hydrogen is dangerous and lighter than air, it will accumulate near the ceiling and when the threshold reaches the level of lel, the first spark will explode.

Platinum technology offers smart gas detection and alarm system solutions that enable detection of explosive Hydrogen (H) gas during manufacturing in margarine facilities, as well as for all other risky gases, and warning those in the environment through alarms and activating the ventilation system.
